Slightly lower contrast compared to charcoal, making it understated. Graphite is more refined and detailed up close, however. This makes it more suitable for smaller works.
When choosing to have a portrait commissioned, the first question is of course where the work will ultimately be hung. The format is therefore one of the first choices that must be made.

This means that a commissioned portrait is possible for every room, large or small.

High contrast, striking from a distance but slightly less detailed up close compared to graphite. This makes charcoal very suitable for larger portraits.
